| A huge THANK YOU to the Rocky Mountain Volleyball Team! |
|
Michelle, Tricia, Molly, the JV, Sophomore, Freshman and Varsity Volleyball Teams,
I wanted to take a moment and convey sincere appreciation for the support of the Rocky Mountain Volleyball Team in your donation of food and water for the Alzheimer's Memory Walk. We had more than enough of both granola bars and water. Just think how many people you kept hydrated today!! We donated many of the leftover items to the City Light Homeless Shelter and I still came home with a fair amount of both water and snacks. I will ensure that these items are donated back to the teams for game days/practices or however you would like them to be distributed. The girls represented Rocky Mountain High in a very positive light and this was noticed by many folks of all sectors within the community we live. Alzheimer's currently impacts 5.3 million Americans at this time. I think it is a pretty fair prediction to say that each and every one of us will be impacted by this dreadful disease in some form or fashion within our lifetime. We as the planning committee really felt it was important to have the face of youth present at an event that the elderly are primarily impacted by. I can tell you that I have participated in this Memory Walk on/off for the past 12 years and the energy was so much different this year having so many young people present. Whenever we asked for help whether pushing someone in a wheelchair, serving food, helping with balloons, selling raffle tickets and/or participating in the walk. You all stepped up helping out whenever and wherever you were asked. Job well done Lady Griz! Thank you to each and everyone of you for giving up your Saturday to make a difference in our community. You did just that and you gained yourselves some new fans whether you are on or off the volleyball court!! Sincerely, Kennette McWilliams, MSW
